The Vermillion Area Arts Council Announces a Call for Visual Art and Poetry

“River, Mound, Prairie, Sky:  Visual Art and Poetry Celebrating Our Natural Environment”—Saturday Dec. 4 and Sunday, December 5, 2010

Opening Reception, Saturday, December 4, 2010, 6-9 p.m. introducing the artists and featuring drinks, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and jazz.

Viewing and Poetry Reading Sunday, December 5, 1-4 p.m including light refreshments.

Deadline for submissions:  October 15, 2010

Maximum:  4 works per artist. 

Submit Visual Art in any Media in digital form or in person at Washington Street Arts Center, 202 Washington St. Vermillion.  Deadline: October 15, 2010.  Art submitted in person should arrive at the Arts Center between 4 and 6 p.m., Friday, October 15:  paintings, prints, sculptures, photographs, drawings, films.  Contact Janet Beeman (605-253-2195), Norma Wilson (605-624-9279, Norma.Wilson@usd.edu) or Rebecca Gehm (Becca@gmail.com).

Submit poetry formatted for Folio size (11” x 17”) to Norma Wilson (Norma.Wilson@usd.edu) or Rebecca Gehm (BeccaGehm@gmail.com).  

Exhibitors must be current members of the VAAC:  Submit your $15 Artist Membership fee to Rebecca Gehm, Membership Chair, VAAC, Box 284, Vermillion, SD 57069.

The VAAC will provide labels, publicize, print a program and loan frames (for 11” x 17” poems or visual images).  Artists may name a price to include on the labels.

We will set up the exhibit December 2 and 3, 2010.
